About this deal

CRAIG HOPE: Kylian Mbappe endured a frustrating evening against Kieran Trippier and Co... but he held his nerve under immense pressure to rescue a point for PSG and break Newcastle's hearts SARAH VINE: Where DO Harry and Meghan stand in relation to this puppet of theirs? If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex don't denounce the poison in Omid Scobie's new book, we can only assume they endorse it Following primary fermentation the bulk beer is given a dosage of priming sugar and a Champagne yeast culture. Ivo Bosteels, steeped in his family’s brewing experience, says the Champagne culture started as a brewer’s yeast and adds: “Many wine yeasts began life as beer yeasts.” Yeast is lovingly cared for at the brewery where all three beers are given a fresh dosage of yeast and sugar for re-fermentation in bottle. We also learn in the scant product literature that the beer is made entirely from “summer barley, following a unique recipe,” using “techniques developed over centuries of brewing,” and that it is fermented with “specially selected yeast” and aged “on yeast, in the bottle, for months.” The rest of what is knowable about this beer is entirely derived from a much more subjective, but nonetheless equally cryptic source: my taste buds. The Profile of a Beer Enigma

Is everything you have ever read about the history of lambic and gueuze totally wrong? Raf Meert thinks so… What a load of s***': Alan Shearer leads the outrage as Newcastle are denied a famous win over PSG by a very harsh injury-time penalty… as 'fuming' Jermaine Jenas says Toon were 'robbed' Jozef, Martin, Leon, Antoine, Ivo and Antoine Bosteels followed his trail and walked in his footsteps for seven generations. The bittering hops is probably a relatively low-alpha, German-style, noble variety such as Tettnanger, or perhaps Perle. The bittering level at the beginning of fermentation is probably around 10 IBU, but the perceived bitterness of the finished beer is much lower because the alpha-acids deteriorate during the brew’s long aging process. There are no aroma hops. A Trio of Yeast StrainsDeus is brewed with the finest summer barley and select hops, but unlike any other Belgian specialty, it undergoes a lengthy, costly maturation in the Champagne region of France. For centuries, the French have used the elegant and labor-intensive “methode Champenoise” as the way to make the best sparkling wines in the world. Deus receives this treatment, just as the finest Champagne, and the result is remarkable. Following the initial fermentation, Deus is shipped to France, where practitioners of “methode Champenoise” follow their strict protocol of bottle turning (“remuage”) and yeast removal (“degorgement”). The entire process takes more than a year, but it's well worth the wait. Deus is clearly not a sparkling wine, nor is it a “beer” in the traditional sense. With flavours of anise, fresh malt, herbal hops and a slightly bready yeast note, it truly combines The Best of Two Worlds. Serve Deus ice cold in a narrow flute or champagne goblet for best appearance and flavour. The master brewer uses barley as the basic ingredient for his DeuS and, following first fermentation and maturation, it is transported to the Champagne – Ardennes region in France. The beer is allowed to re-ferment and will then mature for a minimum of 12 months. The bottles are gradually turned and moved to an upright position.

EXCLUSIVE: Everton's 10-point punishment has DELAYED contract extension talks with boss Sean Dyche as Toffees chiefs hope he'll lead them into new era after stadium move Chefs will taste the results of their labours within half-an-hour. Brewers may have to wait for a year. With Bosteels it is never a purely technical story the miracle happens in the tanks. Fermentation never ceases. The brewer almost has to take up residence in the brewing hall. Sometimes the brewer takes a risk. The DeuS, for example, was uncharted territory. The brewer has a particular beer in mind – almost to the point of being able to taste it in his head– and wants to translate that into the contents of your glass.

Hello,

Some who have tasted this beer believe there is wheat in the grist. So, as an option, you can replace 20% of the grain bill with malted wheat. Lightly Hopped We would recommend this beer for use as a companion to food rather than an ingredient as its subtle complexity tends to get lost when it is added to recipes.
