About this deal

As with any relationship, they can be difficult and challenging at times, but hopefully you can work through it together and come out stronger.

That fateful Friday, the thirteenth, I’d been set down on planet Earth as an uninvited guest, but that never kept Antonio and Carla from showering me with a fair-to-moderate amount of parental love, at least for as long as they were married. That’s another story, though, and an infinitely sad one. If I’m up for it, I’ll tell you about it later. In another passage, Lucio’s car breaks down in Trastevere and he goes to a nearby café to await its repair. Here he finds that the cafe's owner has created a collective diary in the form of a wall stretching thirty feet and covered with a mural divided in two: one side, written in red paint, THINGS I LOVE, on the other side, in midnight-blue, THINGS I HATE. The wall is covered with colorful phrases of all sizes ranging from the nostalgic (the grated apple my grandmother used to make) to the crass (the happy sight of Mariasole’s tits) to the mundane (whoever stole my moped). Christmas Gifts

Early on, Lucio’s father-in-law asks how he’ll spend these last days and Lucio asks the reader the same question and offers suggestions: I finished this book a few weeks ago and I’ve struggled with what to say about a very simple story with such a big message. I want to recommend this to everyone, but I know this isn’t for everyone. And maybe it resonated with me due to my age or that this year has been what you might call challenging or that I’ve become more contemplative as a result of the two previous points. The novel opens with the protagonist/narrator recounting the three most important days of his life, the last of which is the day and hour he takes his last breath. I know that sounds rather morbid, but it’s also moving. This is the story of how he lived the last one hundred days of his existence on earth and how, in spite of all expectations to the contrary, these were the happiest days of his life. Bright, colourful flowers make me so happy, and wherever I live, I always try to have fresh flowers around. Here I have a couple of giant orange faux gerbras, but I also try to have fresh flowers in my room. Today, it’s a bright burst of colourful roses.

SM City Baliwag, in partnership with Lokal Bayong, likewise took part in a meaningful school year as they lead the turnover of Php.25,840.00 worth of cash donations for the public school students and teachers of Baliwag South Central School. I loved the other characters that were weaved in, from Lucio's two best friends to his step-father who runs a donut shop. They all had their own little stories and the way they interacted with Lucio was a lot of fun. We were married early the following year in a charming little Gothic church on the outskirts of Milan, and it’s one of the few things I’ve never regretted. Another thing I’ve learnt is that happiness isn’t a switch that once it’s on it never goes off: it’s a daily practice. It takes effort, which at times is not easy, but it’s so worth it.Why? Because then there’s no expectations nor judgments: it helped me be completely free to take pictures that truly made me happy without second thoughts. Apart from the GSP partnership, SM Supermalls also partnered with the local government of Quezon City for its Vote to Tote program, Spark PH and bag designer Zarah Juan to sell upcycled tarpaulin handmade tote bags sewn by marginalized women and female persons deprived of liberty.

And I also had some super regular days, where I worked hard at Buffer and pet my dog and hung out with my husband and maybe went to the grocery store and that was pretty much it. I had some spectacularly awesome days throughout the 3-month span of 100 Happy Days: I ran around New York City with my awesome coworkers! I jumped off a waterfall with friends! I rode a 4-wheeler with my 93-year-old grandfather! What really warms my heart is that Callum wants to take a kindness goodie bag with him into school next week for his ‘show and tell’. My heart is so happy to think that this small act of kindness may help inspire this younger generation to continue the ripple effect of kindness.

About this book

Underneath it all, this was about Lucio and his wife Paola, and underneath it all, it was very sweet and gave me warm fuzzy feelings (alongside the tears!) Funny, moving. . . I defy anyone to finish this story without tears in their eyes.” —Graeme Simsion, bestselling author of The Rosie Project Depressing? No. Uplifting? Yes. Funny? Often. Although it s a countdown to death, this story is a celebration of life. Grab a doughnut and treat yourself to a good read. " "Hudson Valley News" I have so many ideas on how to continue my kindness mission, and I’m really excited to be delving into this a lot more going forward. But all in good time and I will definitely be writing about them when the time is right. And I’m over-the-moon that my seven-year-old nephew Callum wants to help me. I love what a big heart he has and how his teacher is always commenting on how kind and helpful he is.
