Your ZTE router isn’t giving you the speeds or reliability you need for browsing, navigating, and social media. We were sent the new ZTE router to review as part of the launch campaign and were impressed by its capabilities and elegant design. At MWC 2022 , ZTE unveils the world’s first Wi-Fi 7 consumer-ready product, called the ZTE MC888 Flagship. The MC888 Flagship is a Wi-Fi 7 5G CPE(Customer Premises Equipment) device that receives cellular data such as 4G LTE/5G which then converts them into WiFi signals for users to connect to. Normally CPEs are most commonly seen in hospitals, factories and villages, as CPEs save the cost and hassle of installing fibre optic cables in these areas. Some local testing in the car shows a much slower EE speed near the tower than I normally see, Three on the other hand is pulling 500+. This may suggest a local area issue, so maybe this will stabilise.

Like all types of ZTE router, the ZTE MC801A router uses a TS9 connector. Maxview’s antenna uses an SMA connector, so you’ll need to use an adaptor to attach the router to the antenna. We include an adaptor with each of our external antenna kits. The ZTE MC888 5G router features the new generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 Chip. This platform with advanced 4nm technology supports the 3GPP Release 16 standard. The processor’s processing power has been upgraded and speed has been significantly improved, opening a new 5g era. ZTE mentions that it will be bringing the Wi-Fi 7 MC888 Flagship to market by the end of 2022, but expect a higher premium since this is 1st Generation Wi-Fi 7 product that is coming to market.These could include shifting between automatic and manual modes, or enabling the router’s dual-network mode.

The ZTE MC888 router was incredibly simple to set up. After unboxing it, all we had to do was insert our nano-SIM and plug the router into a power source.
