Anderson fell in love with the raw nature on Isle of Harris when he visited the island for the first time in the 1960s and therefore chose this to be the location for the distillery. This is by far one of the most beautiful bottle designs out there for a gin and like me you it’s probably also one of your most liked pictures on Instagram if you like me post pictures of gin. The finished result is a complex yet perfectly balanced, smooth dry gin, with a wonderful floral nose. McLean's Signature Gin is gentle on juniper and bursting with flavour from 9 botanicals including fennel, anise, cubeb berries and orange. Personally I would have liked some more of the maritime scent and flavors that makes this gin unique and therefor I can’t give it top score even though this gin is one of my favorite gins.

The very classic botanicals are distilled in small copperstill “The Dottach” where Isle of Harris Distillers LTD. Our team are given paid service days to volunteer on social projects like local beach cleans, and we regularly host community events at the distillery, attend school career fairs, and participate in local events. Our Shining Cliff Original Gin is made from 13 botanicals, which we vapour distill to capture all of the delicate flavours. The bottle have a blue bottom which you actually can’t see if you look straight to the bottle but from an angle the azure blue bottom transforms the whole bottle. Betty’ is our 600 litre spirits still, used to make our award-winning Shining Cliff Gin and our Derbyshire Cask Aged Rum.Together with other like-minded island enterprises we seek to act as a catalyst of change and a symbol of promise for this generation and those still to come.

This gin really doesn’t need any tonic or garnish but if you really have to make a Gin and Tonic this makes a really (like really really) great Gin and Tonic. Because the sugar kelp is such an unusual botanical, the gin was developed at the International Center for Brewing and Distilling at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh where they could experiment and adjust until they had the right amount and combination with the other botanicals. Colin and Jess McLean developed their passion for gin making after receiving a ‘Make Your Own Gin’ kit one Christmas. Floral is bold in colour and in flavour with rose and hibiscus combining with orange and sweet fennel. This spectacular Sour mixes the rich, juniper-forward profile of gin with the scrumptious almond and raspberry flavours of Pennington’s Bakewell Gin Liqueur and a delectably sour kick of lemon juice.Limited to approximately 1,000 bottles annually, every release will have variations based on the availability of botanicals and changing of the seasons. These changes threaten local traditions, culture, and language as well as leaving schools and village numbers dwindling. The first distilled gin from McLean’s Gin is a (now sold out) limited edition classic London Dry Gin flavour profile but still true to the McLean’s Gin principle of creating truly botanical gins.Hints of summer fruits, mint, caramel and hand-rolled tobacco leaf, supported by a fresh herbaceous background. From here the couple invested in a small gin still that could produce six-litre batches and McLean’s Gin was officially born. Premium Gins and Liqueurs, handmade by a small team of artisan distillers in Britain, for the whole world to savour and enjoy.
